Amy was born in New York, but spent most of her childhood in Mount Pleasant, SC. She graduated from College of Charleston in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pure Mathematics and a minor in Spanish. After graduation, she moved to Seattle, WA, where she worked as a preschool teacher and a nanny, got married, and became a mother. In 2012, she moved back to Charleston so that her son could grow up close to family. In her free time, she homeschools her son, spends time with friends and family, gardens, watches movies, and bakes.

Catherine

Catherinepilates & barre instructor

Catherine hails from the upstate and holds a B.S. in marketing and management from the University of South Carolina. During those crucial college years she was introduced to Pilates and began her love affair with the method. After graduation she put that business degree to work in the corporate world for several years.  In 2008 she followed her true calling and began her formal Pilates training with Balanced Body University and never looked back.  Catherine and her mother started a studio in Spartanburg where she taught and managed the business.  In late 2011 the winds of change brought Catherine and her husband Mason to Mount Pleasant where they currently reside with their two furry babies Bella Mia and Dolce Vita.

She has held various jobs during her time teaching and training, including a long history of working in the food and beverage industry. She also worked in an administrative position while she completed her degree in Business Management. Kari’s other passion is travel and she has lived in a couple different states in the past few years, instructing on and off, but always keeping Pilates as her fitness staple. She is currently finishing up her comprehensive training through Balanced Body in Asheville, NC. She will have completed all of her training courses by the end of 2016.

Amy M

Amy MPilates instructor

Originally from New Hampshire, Amy had been living in Los Angeles for the past 7 years until recently deciding to return to the East Coast to be closer to family. Amy is a STOTT Certified Pilates instructor and she completed her training at the John Garey Studio in Long Beach, CA.  She had been teaching Pilates in LA for over 2 years and has completed many workshops on topics such as prenatal Pilates, postural issues, athletic conditioning, and cardio tramp.  As a lifelong athlete, Amy has always valued health and fitness but her interest in Pilates peaked when she began to witness its preventative and rehabilitative abilities while working at a physical therapy office.  She is concerned with body mechanics and awareness and uses precise cueing to bring attention to form and technique.  Amy wants her clients to meet their wellness goals but also to learn from their workouts and be able to apply this knowledge to their everyday lives in order to move and feel better.  When she is not teaching or taking classes she enjoys being outside as much as possible, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
